Approach
The approach for the project EUDDplus aims at European standardisation and harmonisation of the driver’s desk functional arrangement and layout, including the verification of the ergonomic advantages, sub system performance and economic benefits (LCC).

The EUDDplus approach consists of three major steps with a multi system demonstration:

Step 1
Specification as far as possible compliant to ORS/FRS/SyRS/FIS, development and vehicle integration of the new desk including software development

Step 2
The test programme for the field tests will be accurately prepared by human-machine-interface experts making use of the experiences gained in the MODTRAIN/ EUCAB simulator tests. The field tests will take place in Oct./Nov. 2009 on the Siemens Test-Validation Center in Wegberg-Wildenrath, Germany, re-enacting cross-border operation involving drivers from several European operators to test the advantages of the drivers desk (usability testing).

Step 3
Draft of recommendations for future broad scale exploitation and future certification.

The EUDDplus project will continue the EUDD approach establishing a user platform guaranteeing involvement of interested parties beyond the project consortium.
